Minimalist Toyota 'ME.WE' Concept Nominated for Design Award in London

The Toyota "ME.WE", which debuted last year on April 24 at Le Rendez-Vous, Toyota’s dedicated showroom in Paris, France, has been nominated for the Design of the Year 2014 award from Design Museum London. It and other nominated works will be on exhibit at Design Museum London from March 26 through August 25.

The design of the Toyota ME.WE takes an innovative, minimalist approach, where less is more. Made largely of sustainable materials like bamboo and recyclable plastic, the Toyota ME.WE offers a novel response to the ecological issues posed by the mass production of automobiles.

New for 2014 is the Social Vote which sees two nominations compete through the exhibition’s online Social Vote platform. The Toyota ME.WE concept will face off against a competitor on April 22. Broadcast to over one million of the Design Museum’s Twitter and Facebook followers, the Social Vote allows people from all over the world to participate in Designs of the Year 2014. Join the fun using the #designsoftheyear hashtag, and follow the action via the website of Design Museum London.

The Toyota ME.WE is the result of a partnership between Toyota European Design & Development (ED2) and Jean-Marie Massaud, the renowned creative designer acclaimed for his visionary projects in design and architecture.
