Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today that an official inauguration was held at Toyota Argentina S. A.'s (TASA) plant in Zarate, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina on March 21 local time to mark the beginning of mass production of the Hilux pick-up at TMC's newest Latin American manufacturing facility.

Over 700 dignitaries representing government, industry, and the media were in attendance as Argentine President Carlos Saul Menem and TMC Chairman Shoichiro Toyoda led the inauguration ceremony.

The highlight of the afternoon was the announcement of TMC's donation of several TASA-produced Hilux vehicles to federal, state, and local government organizations. TMC is also contributing numerous components and parts to Argentine industrial education programs.
