20 Years of Bringing Music to the Lobby Culminates in Anniversary Concert
at the Toyota Automobile Museum
Toyota City, Japan, September 3, 2015―Twice yearly, the lobby of Toyota's headquarters building in Tokyo becomes an intimate venue for high quality music. Over a span of twenty years, members of the local community have come to take part in a cultural experience full of colorful sound.

Now, on October 31, 2015, the first ever Toyota Museum Concert will be held at the Toyota Automobile Museum in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture, expanding the company's philanthropic activities to another community. This concert will be a special event to mark the 20th anniversary of the Toyota Lobby Concert. The aim of this concert series―run by volunteer staff from Toyota in collaboration―is to create an opportunity for local residents and people from nearby care facilities to experience unique live music performances.
For this special event in Aichi, the Toyota Automobile Museum―a focal point for automotive culture―will be turned into a venue that allows its audience to experience the connection between music and automobiles; two important mediums which impact upon peoples' lives. A theme of "People and Cars: a world and future depicted in music" will bind this concept together, playing host to a wide variety of musical genres including songs that have a connection to automobiles, famous classical and movie pieces, and even tango music. The performances will be infused with the desire for a prosperous future for people and automobiles.
Pianist Toshiya Shioiri
The Toyota Automobile Museum will welcome three very talented musicians: Ai Okumura, a talented female violinist long active in Japan, who now regularly performs across Europe and Asia; Toshiya Shioiri, composer, arranger, and pianist, who is an expert in a variety of musical genres; and Naoki Tate, a multi-talented artist who uses diverse methods to generate music from percussion and folk instruments. In addition to their musical abilities, these artists are also invaluable managers and supporters of many other fellow musicians.
Toyota will provide complimentary tickets to both the recital and a chance to enjoy the museum itself to a total of 160 members of the local community and to residents of nearby care facilities. The application procedure is detailed below for residents of Nagakute City.
